Ipkg for for Opie

Hi all I have been viciously struggling to get Wifi to work on my iPAQ, and have come to supect a problem with modules within the Opie environment. The Opie I loaded at times asks for certian packages. i cannot configure usb to work from either Mac X or Windows XP, drivers are just not around, so my only connection to the net from h5550 would be through Wifi, if I could just get it to work. But from Opie's familiar site I found this bit of news that makes me even more weary of any attemp to salvage any bits on my Opie environment. What does this really mean: "02.01.05 Say bye bye to the Feed and Welcome OpenZaurus/Familiar/OpenEmbedded With the regular releases of OpenZaurus and Familiar - both built with OpenEmbedded - we will no longer provide binary packages on http://opie.handhelds.org/feed. Opie is fully integrated into OpenEmbedded. This implies that recent Opie versions will be shipped with the regular releases of the distributions. The 5thtoe feed is also superfluous as all packages were integrated into OpenEmbedded and are available in your favorite distribution." -from http://opie.handhelds.org/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/ So what does one do with ipkg updates? How does one maintain a stable system with new patches?
