I don't know how did You get to the link You have posted.
I went to familiar page -> download -> v0.8.4 -> [Obtaining Familiar
v0.8.4] installation guide -> Download and I got to the
http://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/releases/v0.8.4/install/download.html
. This link works ok.
  At the link that You say You got the image there are more than one
possibilities of getting the image - please double check that You have
the latest (v0.8.4) version.

If You do - my help for You ends here - I have different model and it
handwriting does work on it.
