There is a big difference between a 'ready' kernel and a working kernel.
There is a working kernel for this palm device. It doesn't support a
lot, but it can be made to boot and drive a few of the devices. It
is not something that is ready for non-developer use. So the people that
have tried the kernel have got it far enough to start to port Opie to
it. And we have accepted those patches.

Don't try Linux on the treo unless you are a developer.

That OS is slated for a 2009 release. Don't hold your breath.
