I been a LONG time Palm user, but I would be hesitant to buy a Pre or Pixi now - they are not doing well financially at all.

Your idea might be viable if you are willing to consider it a temporary solution - a 2 year phone contract that lets you use Datebk6 for another 2 years while you see what shakes out - whether Pimlical ends up on mobile platform, and which one it is.
