The Other SonyPalm Desktops MUST Be Installed For it to Work, for other SonyPalm PDAs to work, so likely the Same for your TH55, though I Have not had that Model. A:- You Need The CDROM, not Just Some Drivers. B:- For Vista, The CDROM Has to Be Newer than the One that Came With the NX70V (To Use an NX70V You Need to Find a CDROM for the Newer NX73v, which appears to work On Vista with UAC Off. You Cannot Install the NX70V on Vista, then try Upgrade the SonyPalm Desktop to a Newer One, as that Does Not Work) Other Newer SonyPDA CDROMS should work fine on Vista. C:- Download the latest Drivers from Sony eSupport:- http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PEGNX80V These updates can be important. For example, My Backup Sony (TJ25) has major bugs in it, and gives a fatal alert several times a day. However, if I have installed the patches which updates certain files in the Handheld, that is not the case. I recommend, when converting to Pimlical and Palm Desktop 6, Sony Users Install all related Updates/Fixes, "Before" Uninstalling SonyPalm Desktop. (OT Here Is A Third Party Site where they have helped me out with a lost Sony Clie CD & drivers.) http://www.sonyclie.org/drivers.htm D:- Download Palm Desktop http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk62.html E:- Download Revo Uninstaller, assuming you have windows. I use this. http://www.revouninstaller.com/ F:- If Using Vista, Disconnect Internet Turn Off UAC Then Restart Laptop/PC 1 Install Newer SonyPalm and Desktop. 2 Install Clie Files, using Sony CD. 3 Hotsync to move Clie Files to Sony Handheld. You will choose Hotsync Name. Hotsync Drivers have been installed. 4 Install, if you like, the MSimport/MSexport, if you wish. If you chose not to, you will be unable to do so at a later using the Sony Install disk, as the Sony Install Disk requires SonyPalm Desktop to be installed. If you do install you can use your SonyMemorystick as an external drive. If you have a card-reader, in your laptop, say, like me, you might just decide to use that way to access the card, as it is faster, and you might have a conflict, requiring you to set aside a special USB slot to access the Memorystick using that driver, but switch to other USB slots to hotsync through. However, if you have no handy card reader, you may wish to install that import export driver. 5 Load Only limited applications SonyPalm Apps on PC. 6 Choose Which Driver Updates you will download. Some you may never use, like an updated Bluetooth Library, that may be 800kb, but, my recommend installing all whilst SonyDesktop is installed, then locate the install folder, and copy and paste them for safe keeping, so you don't have to reinstall SonyPalm Desktop to install them at a later time, just double click to install on the PRC files. You Can Install to Install folder, copy them for safekeeping. 7 DO NOT install any third party applications on the Desktop, unless they came on the Install CD. 8 You May want to copy your user data to another location, for backup. 9 Install Revo. 10 Open Revo, and double-Click on "Palm Desktop" (If you rightclick, instead, "be careful not to select Remove", as Remove removes an item from list, without trying to uninstall it. "Choose "UnInstall" 11 On the next page, Using Vista, I use the Default Level of uninstall. On XP Pro, I Used the Highest. This does not remove my drivers. But Removes left Over Bits. 12 Press Next 13 The Palm's Own Uninstall utility opens. Follow through saying yes, etc., 14 When that window says it is uninstalled, close that popup window. 15 On Revo, Press Next. 16 Revo takes a while to scan for related file, then halts. 17 Press Next. 18 A list of files found including the registry. 19 Press Select All, followed by Delete. 20 Press Next. 21 You get more files. 22 Press Select All, followed by Delete. 23 Next, then says all done. 24 If Using Vista.... You Can Turn ON UAC And Restart, However, I Leave UAC On Until after the Palm and Pimlical Installs. 25 If Using XP, Might Want To Restart, if Uninstalling SonyPalm Says needed Restart . 26 Install Palm 6.2 Palm Desktop. Ensure Choose Sync to Desktop, not Outlook. 27 You are asked to put in your Hotsync Name. 28 Do Not Open Palm Desktop. at this point. 29 Hotsync, and select your User Name. Do Not open Desktop. 30 I would Start Install of Pimlical. http://www.PimlicoS oftware.com/ pimlical. msi 31 If you are asked for Java, you are missing Java, and a link opens your browser to the Java Install Page. If So, install, when asked. 32 When you start install of Pimlical, choose the older legacy database, by checking/ticking it. 32a If Using Vista, and Still have UAC ON, You Have to Select Pimlical Part 2 exe, to Set These Options, which Must be Done. 33 Select the other options for default setting for your first install. 34 Click Next. and Pimlical is installed. 35 Do not start Pimlical yet. 36 Start Palm Desktop, for the first time. 37 Ensure that you can see All your Dates, Addresses, ToDos, and Memos. 38 If You Can't, then something went wrong with the install, and we need to get PalmDesktop working first. Check to make sure you did everything right. If you didn't, uninstall Palm Desktop with Revo, and repeat the installs. 39 If you Can, Horray. 40 Open Pimlical, it should work, and immediately go to preferences, chose if you want to use multiple time zones, what timezone you use, and Monday/Sunday Start. 41 If You Did Not Do It Earlier, Using Vista, REMEMBER to Turn Your UAC On Again....
