Sorry i am a bit fuzzy on it maybe a search of the archives will help but
I think palms have an unsaved prefs file which is left alone in the backup.

I think it bypasses the OS and hits the hardware directly.

I have a TX and have used it when i got a crashing Palm to go back in 
time as i have
it set to backup daily at midnight.

It doesn't work on my T3 sadly
