Two issues with Contacts in Pimlical v1.3.14

I am running v 1.3.14 stand alone on Windows Vista on a Vaio UX. I have just had
this unit completely cleaned up -- my tech guy reformatted the C drive (actually
stolid state), reloaded Vista and reinstalled all updates a week ago. Since then
I have reinstalled all my software including Pimlical (on the D drive, actually
a Sony Memory Stick) and restored all my data. Everything is running perfectly,
and everything on the machine is up-to-date.

However, I am experiencing two issues with the Contacts database:

1. Some contacts do not have unique identifiers. Their identifiers are 0.
Pimlical is supposed to handle this automatically but has not. The result is
that I cannot link appointments to these contacts, and since these are business
contacts with active clients this is an immediate issue. Is there a way for me
to force Pimlical to issue unique identifiers to these entries?

2. I seem to be severely limited in the number of categories I can have in
contacts. This again is a problem for me since I would like to fine tune my
contacts organization and cannot. I believe this limitation is a hold-over from
the Palm, which had built-in limitations on numbers of categories, but since I
have a stand-alone installation and no Palm or Palm Desktop involved (had have
had this for more than a year now) I would like if possible to fix this. I
should note that I do not have this problem with the tasks and contacts
databases.

Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

All the best,
