from palm to android

all,

I just jumped into android-world. so far: great. Apart from my calendar...
I was always an avid user of datebk6, so I'd like that on my android phone.
But I don't think I will ever use the pimlical desktop application, as all my work is done in Outlook 2010.

is that a problem? can I use android pimlical by itself? and will there be syncing issues?
I use Gsyncit to sync outlook and google calender, which works great for appointments. task-syncing is horrible,though. 
Especially repeating tasks. Would pimlical fix that, when Outlook stays in the mix?
