thanks, yes, it works as suspected/predicted;
after altering 'TYPE' DBFixit recognized it as valid db with x records;

(and, the application refused to work untill I reset 'TYPE' to previous
value (as could be reasonably expected))

hmmm, I had some other files that DBFixit wouldn't 'recognize' might try
same procedure.
