The saga of the shift to iOS/my next need

Hello DB6 Faithful:

As I make my transition to iOS, (an iPod Touch, actually,) I thought I would report on my experience for others, as well as ask my latest questions for those with experience.

[I do have two working T3's, of which I have replaced their batteries two times each.  It is just that I see the future in wanting to have access to apps, (not even the need for a phone,) and don't want to carry two devices.

I believe I've settled for Week Calendar as my appointment book.  For me, the important qualities are smooth transitions between views, a robust weekly view, strong templates, color coding (with colors that can be labeled,) and the capacity to sync with iCal and Google Cal.  It also has an "all day" event that serves as a top label; even better than DB6.

While changing of an appointment is that stupid date roller, rather than choosing a date from a calendar, at least one can cut and paste an appointment to change a date directly in a calendar view.

It seems nothing has anything close to CESD's feature of a pulldown list to modify an appointment advance 1 day, set tomorrow, set day after tomorrow, 1 week later, next monday, next week, this Friday.  Bloody brilliant feature for rescheduling appointments.

Missing is the capacity to "hide" an appointment.  This is important to me, because I have standing weekly appointments and when I cancel a single one, I need to know if that time is available on a one-time basis or always.  DB6 allowed me to create views where the canceled appointment would be viewable or not.  However, in Week Calendar I change the color on canceled appointments to black so I know that it is a slot available for booking on a one-time basis.

I also find the speech recognition amazing; it is remarkably accurate and useful.

Now my next hunt is for a Task Manager.  I need multiple levels of priority; "starred or not" will not cut it.  I need a view to be able to see only today's appointments (or past,) and by priority.  I need recurring appointments.

So far, these needs seem to be met by Taskify; (which has a free lite version so you can try it out, but is limited only by entries.)  However, to do this, I have had to really jump through hoops.

However, any task change requires going through three windows, then three saves, AND, AND, the only date changer is that horrible date roller.  So if I want to move a task due date to next the following Friday, I have to switch to my calendar app to figure out the date of the following Friday.  That really is untenable.

It also doesn't allow for a no-date item.  So I end up "dating" all my no-date items 2015 (so they never show up in my Today view; hoo-boy.)

And it frightens me that it doesn't sync.  If something happens to this app, I end up losing all of my data.  The problem with syncing something to google is it then cannot handle multiple priories.

Would other users like to chime in with their experiences with a Task app.  Damn for the days of "trials," when one could check out shareware for a period of time to decide if it meets one's needs.  I'd like to look at 2Do: Tasks done in style but it will costs $10 for the privilege.  Now multiply that tenfold for all the other Task apps I want to consider.
