Bill; I echo your thoughts and frustrations.
I miss terribly DB6 but love the integration between my MacBook Pro, iCloud, and iPhone. I don't use the google calendar any more. 
I too use Week Calendar, but struggle with how I'm addicted to DB6 floats. Week Calendar does have rolling dates, but it's not the same. I still struggle with putting tasks in Reminders but I dislike looking at two apps to see what needs to get done on a given day. I miss the integration of appointments and tasks in DB6 and the floating advances before an event.
And yes, I've spent money on some task/todo apps, but have determined that without syncing with my MacBook Pro and iPhone, they are a dead end for me. For me, it is vital that what I do on the iPhone gets to my MacBook Pro and vis vera. When something needs to get done, I never know which device I'll be using, therefore the necessity for integration.
