RE: Where is DateBk these days?

I too loved DateBk on my Palm.  When I switched to Android, it took 2 days of massaging my calendar and contacts to move to google.  On my phone, I use Jorte which sits on top of google calendars and does a good job with everything but Floating Events.  For that, I continued using Pimlical on my desktop that synced with google calendars, but then I started getting lots of errors upon syncing that I got tired of clicking through.  So now I use google calendar on the web.

 

I really miss floating events, but I’ve transitioned to Gtask which does almost everything Floating Events did for me.  Almost.

A bit less snark, please?  Pimlico is/was a one-man operation, selling a great product for a very low price. When the market changed from PDAs to smartphones, it became a major problem, because Apple was the dominant player at the time, and they wouldn't allow the sort of tricks DateBk uses to manage the default calendar, so selling through the AppStore was out. I suppose it would be possible to get an Android version but, as you mention, there are platform differences in the Android world that aren't there in iOS (and weren't on PalmOS, either) that would complicate the development effort. I'm sure a Nexus-compatible version could be created…but would you be willing to pay a reasonable price for the effort?  Or is it easier to just sit back and hurl sarcastic rhetoric when you don't get everything you want. RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Is any version of DateBk on Android or IOS?  That was my favorite software on Palm.  I couldn't believe when I last looked that it was a desktop-only app and that even though it was written in Java there wasn't an easy setup for Mac computers.  Talk about limiting your user base .....  Hoping this situation has changed.

Your preferences and saved views are stored in the file DateBk6DB preference database and that's what you would need to look for to get restored. Your icons are stored in the file Icons-DATEBK.PRC.

 

It sounds like neither file was restored...?

After restore from backup then sync of calendar  all DateBk6 preferences are GONE! icons, colors, VIEWS! Years of organizing, tweaking and obsessive compulsive time-wasting.

Any ideas how to restore things to their previous glory?
