I may be replying too late, but I switch back and forth frequently and use =
following steps:

1. Make a copy the /palmone/username/backup folder
2. Make backup of old unit to SD card (I use TealBackup to make backup of o=
ld unit).
3. Hard reset the new unit (hold power button while pushing the reset butto=
n on back)
4. Restore the SC Card backup
5. Sync with HH over writes PC

Alternately, if you don't use an SD card to back up:

1. Make a copy the /palmone/username/backup folder
2. Hard reset the new unit (hold power button while pushing the reset butto=
n on back)
3. Sync as normal
4. Check that categories were transferred in all native palm databases, i.e=
. calendar, memo, tasks, contacts... (may need to create the categories man=
ually and resync).

5. Sync again to make sure and check categories again...

Regards,
Dwight...

Subject: [pdbk] hardware changeover to new unit?
=20

=20=20
my TX power button just suffered a major failure, spring appears to have
totally collapsed, button is down and kind of works, it's possibly
fixable, need to dismantle the unit, etc

So, need to transfer my data, mainly DateBk data, to a new hardware unit,

I have a spare TX, it seems it was last used around 2011, newest records I
can see are from around 2011'

It's set to identical user name *and* identical sync ID digits

what's the best procedure:

sync old unit;
set desktop to desk overwrites hh
sync new unit

is is there some other stuff I should do ?

should I wipe new unit before sync?

thanks for any pointers, my memory is hazy
