Re: TX and other Palm Platforms

For me a replacement digitizer is just part of the cost of owning a Palm.

I had repeated digitizer problems with an earlier T|E, and Palm replaced it under warranty. But the problems returned only a few months later, by which time my T|E was out of warranty. I ended up buying a replacement digitizer (from palmmediccanada.com) that worked perfectly for another 3 years, until I replaced the T|E with a TX.

After my T|E experience I was disappointed but not surprised when I started having digitizer problems with the TX only a few months after buying it. The problems weren't calibration, but rather a need for increasing pressure in the main scribing area, to the point where Grafitti was so unreliable as to be almost useless.

Rather than deal with the Palm warranty process (that hadn't solved my T|E's digitizer problem anyway) I decided to just buy a replacement digitizer (again from palmmediccanada.com), and count it as part of the cost of my TX. Unfortunately the replacement digitizer also started having problems only a couple months later, but palmmediccanada replaced it for free (with what looked like a different model) and this one has worked perfectly for 7 months now.

So, from my experience, digitizer problems can be solved if you're willing to replace it.
