The main thing with the LifeDrive is that it's bulkier and has an internal spinning hard drive. When it came out, the larger memory was an important factor, but with the current availability and price of SD memory, that's no longer an issue.
The only real issues with a TX are the digitizer screen and the headphone jack...both seem to be prone to failure. Not for everyone, by any means, but for some.
I have a TX, have been beyond thrilled with it and it's my constant companion. I did have a bad digitizer, but I had Chris Short fix it (see other post) and he put in a glass one (it comes with a plastic one) and I've not had any trouble since. Chris is amazing, btw, excellent customer service.
As for memory, the TX can use up to a 4GB SD card. The SDHC cards will NOT work, though, so make sure of that. But if you're careful when purchasing (read the pkg) you can get a regular (not SDHC) 4GB SD card. I've got several and carry them in the case with the TX.
