Hi all,

Saturday, October 3, 2009, 7:31:31 AM, you wrote:

I thought my problem was fixed before but it was not. I had the icons in the Palm Desktop, but some conduits were missing. I got the conduits back by selecting to install Palm Conduits instead of "Keep 3rd Party conduits". Then the sync started dying again.

I do not know if the sync dying was NoteZilla, or Palm Photos. I got the original sync problem fixed by messing with NoteZilla. Then it came back and I fixed it by reinstalling the desktop file from Palm's site into the same directory as the OEM Desktop. If I just installed one and then the other, the problem was not fixed. I had to specifically browse to install the 2nd file into the first file's folder. (I know it was Palm Photos the 2nd time because the sync worked properly as long as Palm Photos was disabled.)

With NoteZilla.. sometimes if I went into Synchronize and selected Finish, it would give me an error message that told me to download a file to fix the issue. My system would not let me install the file. Other times, it would just report that syncing was now set up to work.

I lost the categories in some apps. (I don't understand that because I did not lose them all at once. I would lose one on one sync and then lose another app's categories on another sync.) I lost my 3rd party conduits. I might not have lost these things if I had done it right the first time. I uninstalled and reinstalled a bunch of times. This could have been what caused me to lose things.

I now have two entries in the Start menu. One says Palm OS Desktop. The other says palmOne. The palmOne is the correct one. I also have 2 folders for Palm. I am just going to leave it that way. I don't know if that will happen to you if you do it right the first time (unlike me.)

If you do not have your Note Pad etc icons in the Palm Desktop, here is what I think you need to do... I say "think" because I am leaving out the stuff where I messed up.

1. Backup your info first in case something goes wrong. (I didn't! :-(

2. Install your OEM Palm Desktop disk.

3. Select to install Palm Conduits if that is given as a choice. (I selected Keep 3rd party conduits and that is why I did not have the Palm ones at first.)

4. Install the appropriate file for your device from Palm's site. Make sure to install it to the same directory as step 2.

5. Look at your Palm Desktop and see if it has the appropriate icons. (If it does not, right click on a blank space on the left sidebar and select "Customize. See if you have items that are not checkmarked.)

6. Look at your HotSync under "Custom" and see if it lists the proper conduits and settings.

7. Reinstall 3rd party conduits if needed. (For NoteZilla, go into Synchronize and select Finish to set it's sync back up.)
