No, that's not true.  PocketGear has 1.6b on the product description 
page.  You are logging into your purchase history, and re-downloading 
it from your purchase history.  It was always marked as "upgrades are 
free", but PalmGear and PocketGear have never fixed their bug that 
keeps giving you the version you originally purchased.  You just need 
to download it from the product description page.
