I apologize for the lack of precision in my writing in a couple of the 
last e-mails.

What I meant to say is that the memo in question originally had data like:

but about 120 lines of data (most of November to me, though the TX 
doesn't care) were turned into the following:

"ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ"

Clearly, this was data corruption.  Don't know how it got started.

Restoring the MemoDB that contains this corrupt file causes the problems 
to return, but (so far as I can tell) everything is happy w/o it.

Attempting to reg dbFixit to see if there is a clue there, but it's 
barfing at my UserID (crud).  At least 2 steps fwd, 1 back is a net gain!
