What did you mean by "'ÿ' ('y' with > an umlaut over it) *corrupting* about 120 lines? Why corrupting? I apologize for the lack of precision in my writing in a couple of the last e-mails. What I meant to say is that the memo in question originally had data like: --- 30-10-2008 09:01:59 am 217770 home 30-10-2008 09:12:37 am 217771 gas $0.989 30-10-2008 09:49:09 am 217797 THT 30-10-2008 03:16:29 pm 30-10-2008 04:02:15 pm 217823 home 31-10-2008 08:51:30 am 217823 home 31-10-2008 09:32:30 am 217850 THT 31-10-2008 03:21:36 pm 31-10-2008 04:06:09 pm 217876 home --- but about 120 lines of data (most of November to me, though the TX doesn't care) were turned into the following: "ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ" Clearly, this was data corruption. Don't know how it got started. Restoring the MemoDB that contains this corrupt file causes the problems to return, but (so far as I can tell) everything is happy w/o it. Attempting to reg dbFixit to see if there is a clue there, but it's barfing at my UserID (crud). At least 2 steps fwd, 1 back is a net gain!
