OT: Thinking of an Adroid G1

Hello knowledgeable cahps.
My treo 680 is showing signs of nearing the end of its life.
It is palm no six I think but I don''t want another one - fed up of
taking long seconds to switch tasks, flaky, slow gprs etc.
The Palm Pre looks good, but it is utterly untested. And there's no
chance of taking applications with me.
The G1 looks aesthetically like it has been desigbned in an American
kitchen cooker supplier.
But it has a great keyboard and is Linux based and I am a bit of a
part time geek and is 3G and wireless....
Has anyone been through this thought process ?
