Dear Friends, especially the ones in Europe:

In the US, it looks like, one can routinely SMS to e-mail addresses too not
just to cell phone numbers.

So you can imagine my shock when my Centro with a European SIM card declared
that "phone numbers" such as [email protected] were invalid and didn't even try to
send the SMS. So the SIM card must have a built-in protection against using
non-pure-digit addresses.

Is this really so? Is SMS-ing to e-mail addresses in Europe a no-no?
