JohnM will help you (of course). He knows more than I (I am serious).

However, this is a typical case that has a trivial solution in emacs (linux
and such); google "emacs fill".

Coming back to the palm...

E.g., in pSearchTool, using REGEXP, substituting "  *" (2 spaces star) by " "
(1 space) gets rid of multiple spaces. Same with tabs. Getting rid of blank
lines is doable too but is trickier. You need pedit for it and the show
invisibles thingie. Make backups first.

More advanced REGEXP users could do it with simpler commands.

If you get no solution from JohnM or others, tehn I'll explain the details.
