I'm conditioned by being a Unix geek.  Scripts are wrappers, intended
to to together other programs in chains to do useful work.

There are things you *can* write entirely as shell scripts, like a
Korn shell equivalent I have of the "grep" command, but in general,
you're better off to call the real command from a script and process
the output it returns.
