  To fix the problem....

  Find the link you use to run PDesk, right click the icon (use the right
  button instead of the *normal* left button) and select properties.

  You should see some names across the top called *tabs*, click on the
  Compatibility tab.

  On that tab you should see something called "Display Settings", under that
  there is a checkbox for running in 256 colours.

  That is how it looks on XP for me.

  If you still have problems, I'd be happy to walk you through it, just
  email me privately and I will give you my contact info.
