Re: can not get Pdesk to sync with Progect

No PDesk does not need to be running when you HotSync, I think that maybe
Judd was wondering if it was running, because having it running *could*
cause problems.

The reason for this, is that the HotSync process needs to tell all the
applications that might change information to stop what they are doing and
not let any changes happen until the HotSync process is over.

You will notice this if you have the Palm desktop running when you HotSync
because it will *lock up*.

The HotSync process communicates with PDesk over what is called a socket
connection (kind of like a phone call), when something blocks that *phone
call* - like a personal firewall, it can keep the HotSync from happening
properly.

So, the solution in that case is to tell the personal firewall to let the
phone call go through.

Sometimes the *phone number* it wants to use is already used, in that
case, we need to move the other party to a different phone number, since
PDesk only knows how to answer one phone number.

Now, just to be clear, PDesk does not actually make phone calls, I'm just
using that as an example since explaining what really happens would
require lots of computer jargon.
