HotSync hangs and pda refuses to turn off completely

I installed the new Pdesk release and have had no luck transferring
files from my pc to my Palm Tungsten E. Instead HotSync hung during
two attempts at synchronizing with Pdesk and since that it has been
impossible to turn off my pda! When I turn it off it turns itself on
after 10 seconds. Has anybody had similar experiences?
Btw: Does Progect leave any files behind if it is uninstalled?
