Problem creating new files, corrupt file?

When I create a new PDesk file with notes attached to each of the
tasks, if I save the file which seems to be OK. If I then try to
close the file or close PDesk it says the current file is not saved.
When I check the folder with the PDK files, there is a file there
but it is only 1k size.
I have had a look in the file and all it contains is the following
line:
lbPG-ward7 Às»®Às»®|%°
DATAlbPG
If I try to open the file again in PDesk the error message
is " ...\lbPG-ward7.pdk is not a Progect database"
If I create a new file without notes (i.e. just tasks) all seems to
work OK and it saves a valid pdk file.
Please advise how I can fix this.
