Re: PDesk 0.8.5 - don't use with non-ASCII alphabets

It is almost assuredly caused by a Unicode conversion error.

Make sure (if you are running from source), that you are using a Unicode
Python. I'm not sure if we have to worry about a Unicode wxWidgets, it may
only come in Unicode form.

If you can show me how to type the string in from the keyboard, I can try
and see if the problem is because the string cannot be converted to the
Palm character set (that would probably be a fatal problem). If it can,
then we just have to figure out what we are doing wrong.

So, to be able to save to a Palm format, we need to be able to convert the
character to the Palm character set.

Since PDesk only really supports the Palm format, if that does not work we
will have a bit of a problem.

I suppose we could optionally use a different non-palm compatible
character set, but then you might not be able to use the PDB on your Palm.
You would however be able to use PDesk for general desktop use.

One solution would be to change PDesk so it uses an XML file format, but
I'm pretty sure that PDesk was written with only the thought of saving to
a PDB file format, but I could be wrong about that.
