I would be more than happy to provide a non-techie update; however please 
bear with me, since it's been so long since I've been a non-techie I don't 
always explain things well.

If you need extra detail, or a better explanation, feel free to ask again.


XML Translator

I just released another version of the XML translator (Python PalmDB), 
this version can convert Progect databases to and from a basic XML format.

I have a basic conversion to Treeline working, but going from Treeline to 
Progect is incomplete.

While this project is designed to be a library, it will have a command 
line interface that ships with it so that people can translate Palm 
databases to and from XML without having to write a program.

I am very, very busy at work right now, but I am working on this when I 
can.

If someone has good XSLT experience they could quickly get this completed 
at least for Progect. That is, they could get conversions going between 
Progect databases and the native XML format of their favourite editor.


Python PalmDB also has an experimental plugin for the Palm Task database.


I need someone with a Mac, to run the project tests, there were some 
problems previously, and I need to see if they are gone. I do not have 
access to a Mac, and so I can't test this.

The code for the library is basically complete, now the issue is writing 
conversions between the basic XML the library creates, and the application 
specific XML that a given application wants.

Writing plugins for non-hierarchical data should be _very_ easy.


Conduit Replacement

This has not been started yet (specifically), but will be based on the XML 
Translator. I have to see what my options will be.

This is really my first priority since the existing conduit cannot be 
trusted.


PDesk Replacement

I have started a new project to replace PDesk, it is partially 
implemented, but will have to wait until I have the conduit replacement 
done, since that is more critical.

The PDesk replacement should be able to be used by more projects than just 
Progect/PDesk.

It might be prudent to look at porting PDesk to Python PalmDB, that could 
get us up and running more quickly.

I'm not sure how much work that would be, it might not actually be that 
hard since a great deal of the underlying code would be simply replaced.


Progect Update

I will be working on this again after the conduit replacement is finished.
