	By definition things have to sort within branch. Consider..

1	a
1.1		a
2	b
2.1		a

	Are you saying you'd like it to sort to..

1	a
1.1	a
2.1	a
2	b

	That doesn't make sense. 2.1 belongs 'within' 2; it only sorts 
within the other things within 2. 2's children do not sort against 1's 
children.. ie: they are the same 'indent level', but they ultimately 
belong to their own parent.

	Thats not a bug; its how every single outliner in existance works 
:)

	Now, it would be nice sometimes to flatten the view and sort 
independant of hierarchy; I thought about it, but the problem there is.. 
items _do_ belong to their parents; flattening and resorting is all well 
and good on a very temporary basis, but you cannot 'save' like that. And 
doing it on a tmeporary basis led to chaos when people then started 
dragging and dropping ot cut and pasting.. how do you know who owns what 
then?

	So I'm not sure what you mean. it has to work how it is.

	You can speicfy sorts by level, but theres a reason you can also 
sort on a per-child basis.
