I've had this issue ever since I got Shadow for my first device. This thread
has given me an idea.

Could this be caused by re-sorting the DateBk database?

That is, DateBk5 (and 6) has an option to re-sort the database after
synching. I think it's off by default, by I've always had turned on because
I have a very large database and this improves DateBk's performance (but
slows the initial startup).

I'm thinking that on small databases this may have less of an impact, simply
because re-sorting changes the allocation table (or whatever it's called)
for fewer items. The more items you have, the more items are affected by
minor changes.

So if Shadow expects records to have a certain order, and then they're
reorganized by another program, could that confuse Shadow?

Of course, I don't program for the Palm, so I'm not sure what the file
structure and allocation tables look like, and theoretically I'm not sure
how this hypothesis explains the issue, so I could be (and probably am)
totally off, but maybe, just maybe...
