Problem opening file

I haven't used the desktop app for a while (Mac OS X) and when I try to open
a shadow file using "Open Raw" I get the error message "File is broken.
 Couldn't read all records."  I know the file is OK, because I can open it
with another XML converter.  Is there a way to get it to open in Shadow?
 I'm using 4.3.1.
