Jeff--

Thanks for your response. I don't need you to extract the text for me
because I was able to that with Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac by using
the "Open..." command and then selecting "Recover text from any
file". (Office 2008 for Mac is very different from previous versions,
it even uses a different suffix for documents--docx rather than doc.)
The resulting document lost all its hierarchies, but everything was
still there.

By the way, the file is definitely a shadow file, and is in the
backups file in my Palm user folder. It works fine on my PDA--I've
never had any problems, so I don't understand how it could be "broken"
either. (Although it's been a long time since I had to restore from a
backup, so maybe there'd be a problem if I tried to do that.) (That's
a scary thought).

Thank you for being so responsive to questions. I am going to get a
new cell phone soon and am dying to get an iPhone or Blackberry, but
I'm going to have to get a Treo just so I can continue using Shadow.
Nothing else even comes close to what I need.

Laurie
