Jeff, I'm a long time user on both linux and windows, not to mention different palmos devices up through the years. Today, I'd put my vote in for a solution in the same line as evernote (www.evernote.com).

Native clients for the devices that are popular enough (mac/win/lin desktop, iphone ++ handhelds).

Syncs to the cloud, and is accessable through the web as well for devices that has no native client. Still it retains a local database, for when youre out of range of the cloud. Ability to coop with select other programs.. take your pick. But it is not an outliner. No way to structure the info beyond the ever-long note. Plenty of tags and search possibilities, sure.

To me it boils down to this: There still is no outliner that compares to shadow. Its that simple.

I have too many years worth of notes, lists and data stored in shadow databases to fancy a migration anytime soon. Consider me in for the duration if you decide to go forward with a new version.

A revamped Shadow app, laid out in a similar way to evernote, would be the desirable niche - at least for me.

Thanks for listening :) Knut.
