To answer Anita's question, yes I am running a 64 bit version of Windows 7, although most of the software that I've installed on it is put into the x86 (i.e. 32 bit) program folder by Win 7. I had several pieces of software orphaned by Palm or sometimes the developer running on my XP that syncronized with my Palm -- some of this software for well over 10 years. I've had to totally abandon one desktop/hh package (Cyclist's Log) and buy a new, non-syncing package to replace that one. Another (Audiolist) seemed to run under Win 7, but the results were so flaky that I put it back into the virtual XP partition. Shadow is also running back in the XP partition, but it, too, has been giving some strange results. For example, if I set up a new Shadow file on the DT and transfer it to the HH, I can sync changes between them (most of the time), but I cannot delete the file on the HH and get it to come off on the DT no matter what I do. I usually get into the folder with the XML Shadow file on the desktop and delete it by hand. Other syncing pieces of software, such as the SplashData products run great under Win 7. I use one of those pieces of software all the time and found it to be a big PITA to fire up the XP partition just to take a look at one piece of data...plus I was a bit irked that the XP partition needs its own copies of Internet Explorer, Palm Desktop and Hotsync, BackupBuddy, etc. I mean, the new laptop has a nice large hard disk, but running duplicates of some big applications was getting to be ridiculous. Yes, all of the syncs are done via Bluetooth now, which isn't so bad except that the backups take forever. One thing I've done to get around my problem with having to fire up the XP partition just to take a look at one little piece of data...I run my SplashData items (plus Palm Desktop and Hotsync) on the Win 7 machine and sync to that via bluetooth. So, to recap: I run Palm Desktop and Hotsync both on Win 7 and on the virtual Win XP partition. I sync to SplashID and the calendar/todo/memo, etc on Win 7, and then sync (when I need to) to Shadow Planner and AudioList on XP. Both Shadow Planner and AudioList appear to work under Win 7, but results are far from consistent. --- In [email protected], Andy Macqueen <andylistz@...> wrote: > > I had the same problem. This is slowish, but works fine. > Something like this: > http://forums.palm.com/t5/Windows-HotSync/Windows-7-64-bit-hotsync-to-Tungsten-E2/td-p/317842 > > <usual disclaimer about backup> > > HTH > Andy >
