Sadly, that's what it looks like.

However, Shadow files are just XML files. You can export them from the Desktop or using any other XML export mechanism.

I have found a few interesting Web-based outliners in the past couple of months: checkvist and workflowy. Neither is perfect, but they each seem to have some of the features Shadow has. Checkvist is more task-oriented; workflowy focuses on the zoom functionality. They both look really interesting and are under active development. However, neither one is quite at where Shadow was at the end - at least not yet.

They also both seem to be listening to their customers, like Jeff always did. Good vibes.

Checkvist recently added an import feature that lets you import hierarchical text and convert it into an outline, so if you export from Shadow to a simple text file, you can paste that text into checkvist.
