The first response is the one I referred to when I said certain groups have denied access to gmane (I gather that some yahoo moderators are "fearful" of email addresses getting out to spammers, when in fact gmane can encrypt addresses so that cannot be harvested). The second response says that the musedit group will be set up. It usually takes about a week or so before messages begin showing up. Just connect to the gmane news servers (news.gmane.com) and enter the particular group (something like gmane.comp.musedit or whatever it's set up as -- refer to the gmane site for the exact group name). BTW, it looks like you put in the request to have gmane carry those groups. By proper netiquette, it's best to ask the yahoo moderator(s) before making the request to gmane, to make sure that they have no issues with it (there has been much debate on groups about users that don't want gmane to carry their groups). _____ From: tckober73 tckober73-at-hotmail.com |Generic Yahoo group| [mailto:...] Sent: Tuesday, October 12, 2004 8:38 AM To: ................... Subject: [yanoff] Re: Yahoo Groups I tried it with two different yahoo groups. Here are the responses from Gmane: 1)url=http://groups........../group/SmartListToGo/ The admin of this list denied Gmane :( Sorry. BOFH excuse #137: User was distributing pornography on server; system seized by FBI. 2)groups........../group/musedit Subscription messages for the requested mailing lists have been sent. The resulting groups will be created when the first message arrives from the mailing lists. BOFH excuse #32: techtonic stress Whatever that means.. You think, there should be an easier way...
