Using the conduit, won't download newsgroup list.

Using Yanoff 1.54 and the conduit 1.0pre9, when I sync nothing
happens.  I get no errors or anything, but it doesn't download a list
of newsgroups.  I'm using my ISP's server so I know it's not the
server that's messed up.  How do I get Yanoff to download the list of
groups?  Thanks.
