The problem is that the Simulator doesn't show any hard buttons so there 
is no way to know this without having an actual device on which to test.  
My beta tester group only recently got a LD but there are several with 
Treos which is why it works for Treos.  I  already have built in code to do 
HW-type based labels but no way to test it.  The other problem is Palm does 
not publish the values for the device type and each manufacturing run of a 
device is generally given a different one (I think there are at least 4 
Treo 650 device typss) so these values must be determined emperically also.

So let's do this: anybody who has a device that has mismatched hard button 
labels (the top 4 settings), contact me!!!  I will provide an app that will 
pull the info necessary from the device and update the ButtonAction Pref's 
labels for that device type.
