Yes, it is true! As a by-product of some other cleanup, the crashes
when dealing with 8-bit ASCII are FIXED! So readers of NGs such as
the ever-reported fido7.ru.palmtop can use 3.2 and higher versions
with full features and NO CRASHES!!! Please continue to be patient
just a bit more; we really are *very* close to release! Here is an
update list of fixes:
* Fixed frequent NVFS device (Tungsten-X & LifeDrive) crashes (lock
handles)
* Fixed many crashes after NG Polls (no longer performs GoTo-1st-
Unread)
* Prevent frequent crashes when accessing "NG Prefs" (uninitialized
global)
* Now handles non-US (8-bit) ASCII characters without crashing
* Fixed crash if "Newsgroups" header does not contain NG (e.g.
TeraNews)
* Prevent "Send" button crash after re-editing message from "Outgoing"
* Prevent subject alterations (adding "Re:") when re-editing saved
messages
* New function to detect/repair "impossible" shared Unique IDs in
NewsArts.pdb
* Force message reload after editing then saving to same place
(Outgoing/Drafts)
* Don't Goto-1st-Unread when "back"ing out of "Global Found" article
* Fixed too many article list screen cursor re/positioning bugs to
list
* Fixed too many screen update/redraw bugs to list
* Threading & caching disabled in NG Prefs if user ever aborts thread
operation
* Don't bother doing a "Reset NG" if "Next Art" is already '0'
* Don't update "Next Art" ("NG Prefs") when polling single article or
body
* Removed useless (unimplemented) VFS logging UI features in Logging

* Fixed some error cases relating to Thread DBs (causing bad values)

* ButtonAction prefs which are "Reset" (factory/saved) are now saved
properly
* Purging old articles generates "minor" logs, not "bad refs" "error"

* Purge old arts completely rewritten to improve user-cancelability

* Recreate thread DBs only once per NG for (some article purge/update

* "Purge all articles" reports proper value for total deleted in logs

* Some HW in some cases were constructing garbled outgoing date

* Fixed Japanese 3.1 ROMs always garbling outgoing date headers

* Can now add "F'Up2" header from button when re-editing article

* Tapped URLs now strip out white-space and followup quote characters
* When saving outoing messages, filter out invalid Subject/To/NG
characters
* Fixed crash validating outgoing message headers during save
* Followups from "!!!Lost" NG no longer default "Newsgroup" header
to "!!!Lost"
* Vastly impmroved (outgoing message) email address validation code
* "Reply-To" header (from "Server Prefs") inserted at edit (not
transmit) stage
* Single-field input dialogs now "Select All" for the field on rocker
