Did you get this figured out?
It looks like the dox are a bit out of date:
#1: configure your eamil server (server ID #0)
#2: create an outgoing article (save to "Outbox")
#3: check your Poll Prefs to make sure "Post eMail" is checkmarked
#4: Poll
