Signatures, updates (was: Re: Re: Yanoff's new Christian .sig)

Hi, folks!

I read the most recent messages concerning the .sig debate. Frankly
speaking, I can understand some points expressed by people here in
this list.

I can understand Gregg who considers my default .sig "mildly vulgar".
I guess people have different views about what is funny and what's
not. Not everybody feels comfortable with the thought she could have
missed to change that .sig and be considered vulgar or whatever.

In this way I can also understand Harris' point of view. I for one am
not religious. In fact I consider myself atheist (after a long period
of being agnostic), so I'd have my problems with Greggs idea of a
decent default .sig (or of how to save the world). (To make myself
clear: this problem would just be that I wouldn't want his default
.sig in my messages. I don't mind what Gregg thinks about politics
and/or religion. We just have different views about these issues.)

The conclusion I draw from this debate is that I'll change the default
.sig in Original Yanoff to something more generic like "This .sig
hasn't been changed yet. Blame the author". This is far from being
funny or missionaric (?) but it serves one purpose: to tell the user
to change the text. (Thanks for the insight.)

BTW: I'm developing again: I'm working on a Japanese trainer for Palm.
On a good one. :-) There is much work to do for me because I want some
things in it that have to be digitized by hand (I give you a hint:
6300 Kanji). So not only do I write C code for Palm but also Java code
for the Kanji digitizer. Unlike Yanoff, I'll release my Japanese
trainer only if it's perfect, bug-free and with a decent UI and
complete what neccessary features are concerned.

Why I'm mentioning this: I'm planning on squashing all the bugs in
Yanoff Gregg told me about and releasing a bug-fixed version without
new features soon. "Without new features" really means that I don't
know which features the other developers added but I won't add any
more. It may take some time because I told a friend I'd come up with
the Java program within three weeks so the dead-line is close. The
good news is just that my compiler tool chain still works and it
shouldn't be much of a problem to fix those bugs (if I only could find
all of Greggs messages ...). And I'll release a Spanish version of
Yanoff because a kind user sent me translations of the language file
and the resources. Well. Maybe I put some code from my new app into
Yanoff to have all things that need translation in one place: the
resources file but this would only be a benefit to developers.
