Hello,

Here are my scripts. They're made by hand from opensimpad scripts which I always
find too complicated and which I don't understand. I want to understand exactly
what's happening and in which order, so I'm trimming the scripts for my own use.

I'm also going that for the new bootloader, and will try to add some image
selection stuff so you can decide what you should boot ala grub.

1- is not trimmed yet. It's run to do little tuning after compilation. I don't
think it's really required - I never did run it! Meanwhile use 3- to mount a
working initrd and start from it. Alternatively, you can do on the simpad
cat /dev/mtdblock/3 >/mnt/cf/backup.jjfs (3 IIRC but check that)
and use it with 3- to work on your own image in root_dir. Usefull if you don't
want to loose your preciously configured install to a corruption problem or for
post-mortem studies.

2- will create a ready to flash.jjfs2 from this root_dir

3- will test your jffs2 image

4- will take a kernel zImage (see dot_config to create your own kernel from safe
default values) and a jjfs2 image to combine them into a ready to flash image.

5- will just create a ready to flash kernel, which won't harm your flash image.
But make backups anyway. If you want to change the command line to specify
parameters (root=... console=...) edit the .h files named in the script

That's what I use to create my own kernel with my own params. I also succesfully
flashed jffs2 but had corruption problems which could not be fixed (I replaced
damaged binaries and opie, but it wouldn't start giving my a segfault) so I just
went back to a working initrd. It may be the fault of my scripts or the
corruption - I don't know for sure, even if I'd tend to say that was due to the
corruption.

Have fun!

Bien a vous - Best regards,
Guylhem P. Aznar
