Hi Walter! Hi Massimo!

Walter: Is it still right, that bootldr is not yet capable of booting winCE
images, even if the arnold-header is stripped manually?

Back to your files, Massimo:

loaderbl : This is the "original" bootloader (in any version) which is able to
boot winCE Images and linux-images with patched kernels.
With this arnold bloader you can flash loaderbl_alt.

loaderbl_alt: This is the "alternate" arnold bootloader with which you can
flash any "original" loaderbl, e.g. if you want to update the
arnold to its newest version, which is also capable of booting/flashing
via bootp or to boot kernels with unmodified entry adress.

ce-images: I guess those images will be the original ones from the siemens
web-site and thus contain a arnold header (you can chech this using a hex
editor). Those images can simply be downloaded using serload and
afterwards wince will be flashed. Those can only be flashed using
loaderbl. The alternate bootloader will refuse its job.

Due to an incompatiblity issue concerning the different flash sizes, one
should always use the newest arnold bootloader (bloader-2.5.3-SL4.tar.gz)
when flashing the simpad or switch to a completely different one like
bootldr. Older versions may result in a brick :-) Note that the smaller
versions of the simpad still have a lower bloader-version you can use without
any problems. (2.5.2?!)

bye bye
 Ralf
