So now, here is what I get, when holding down the lower key of the simpad when 
booting:

This is the primary bootloader which will not be updated, so we've got the 
same one.

This string shows you which secondary bl is installed.
I've got the newer one :-P ;-)

That way it should look, when you use the ordinary bootloader. Your bootloader 
shows the same for it's storage, but different for the ram location, which 
tells you that an alternate bootloader is flashed:

when I flash the alternate bootloader it looks like this:

That means:
serload uploads the image to the simpad, arnold instantly runs the image and 
the image itself flashes the new bootloader.

when I flash the ordinary bootloader it looks like this:

which again means:
serload uploads the image to the simpad, arnold instantly runs the image and 
the image itself flashes the new bootloader. Simply some memory ranges are 
changed. This is the only difference between both bootloaders.

You've got the alternate old arnold installed, which will usually allow you to 
flash the ordinary bootloader using serload.

Now, let's have a look at your bootlog;

Until here, everything looks alright, the image was downloaded and your device 
should run the new secondary bootloader. (Walter: ###### )

This looks quite strange: Your simpad runs the primary(!) bootloader, which 
mine does not! Your primary bootloader will not initiate the bootloader 
update.

Of course, the primary bootloader runs the secondary one, which is still the 
old one, because the new image was not run and did not flash itself to the 
simpad.

From here, the old bootloader runs and everything will stay the same.
Do you know any details about that behaviour, Walter? ######

You'll receive a pvt from me containing images, which will simply erase your 
complete flash. Afterwards the only software available on your simpad will be 
the bootloader.

Right: You've got the alternate bootloader installed, which is not capeable of 
running any ce-images.

###### I'm hoping, that Walter can give us some hints concerning that 
behaviour?! 

After having installed linux, we will be able to install the bootloader, you 
would install using jtag, but without modifying your hardware. If that does 
not work, we'll try to upload an bootldr to ram, which we can use to flash 
your device ;)
