Hi Alex, I'm still here. And it looks like I'll be able to get involved some more again. Since OZ Buildroot is more or less stalled and OE isn't far enough that we can build Images for the SIMpad from it, it may be better to just build some images for testing purposes. I think an official release is only meaningful when we have a common base system. For instance if you were to build your images based on familiar then it would be a little different than what was created from OZ. Now that hh.org is contributing to OpenEmbedded (which is very good news!!) the possibility of having a common base for Opie and GPE (or whatever else is worth while) images for the SIMpad just increased greatly. As soon as the bootldr works you may want to write up a small HOWTO on getting that on the SIMpad without JTAG. This will be essential before releasing it to the public ;-) But, whip up an Image for testing purposes and I'll test it a bit. BTW: can we do away with the seperate kernel partition when using the new bootldr. I hope so, since this makes it a pain when it gets down to updating kernel stuff. I would like to be able to update the kernel via ipkg like I can on my ipaq. So, now I need to get familiar with OE and help there a little ;-) I'm also going to get involved with the port to the ipaq 2210 (maybe LAB also). So I have alot to do :) Regards, Chris Martin Alex Lange wrote: >Hi, >If the new bootloader is working, I'll build some simpad images if no one else >will do it. > >Alex > >On Wednesday 31 March 2004 17:48, Michael Lauer wrote: > > >>I'm not sure if anyone is still interested in SIMpad stuff, >>however fyi: I added two SIMpad kernels to OpenEmbedded, >> >>1.) 2.4.19-rmk7-jpm2 - as appearing in OpenSIMpad 0.8.1 >>and >>2.) 2.4.25-vrs2-pxa1-jpm1.
