Fear not there is still hope for your T.  Problems with the 
digitizer are generally isolated in the digitizer or screen pcb.  If 
you are lucky it is just the digitizer.  Start with the Hard reset 
which it seems you palm wants to do anyway.  If that does not work I 
would send it to someone to evaluate the exact problem with the 
palm.  If you send it to palm be prepared to spend lots of money and 
wait long periods of time.  If I may make the humble suggestion to 
use usedpdaparts.com for the repair.  If it is just a digitizer 
problem the digitizer is  $30 for the digitizer + $10 labor + 
shipping.  If it is the screen or more unlikley the pcb that will 
cost more.
