Graffiti Button help needed

I am cross posting this in order to maximize the help:

I just noticed that my graffiti button on the status bar stopped
working on my T/3. If I tap it, it will turn a lighter blue for a
second but then returns to the normal color. And therefore I cannot
use graffiti. If I expand the slider I can write in the graffiiti area
that comes up instead of the keyboard. And if I use Graffiti Anywhere,
that will work.

I tried doing a desktop overwrites handheld for the system. But that
did not work.
Any ideas how to fix this?
