replacing my T|T - questions

I too have been nursing along digitizer-impaired T|T for some time now
and am finally ready to replace it.  I haven't been keeping up with new
Palm products, and I have a question too basic to be answered anywhere
else I've looked.
 
The T|T has a "universal" connector, which works with the cradle,
cables, and keyboard I already own.  Is Palm still using the "universal"
connector? Is the "multiconnector" a totally different connector?

Oh, well, since I'm posting, I might as well ask you what your favorite
post T|T Palm PDA is.
