T5: changing the input for "T"

My T5 has never taken the double keystroke necessary to make a T on
the first try.  I much prefer the old upside down L approach.  The
settings indicate that you can use an "alternate input method" for "T"
but I don't see documentation on how to set up the alternative.  I
tried just checking it and using the upside down L but that did not work.

Any thoughts
