I don't own a TX but I think it's a good device, although I have read
about the digitizer problem.  You may also want to check out the Yahoo
TX group for more input on the TX and they're quite active:

In order to use the TX as a voice memo, you first need to purchase a
special modified microphone that connects via the multi-connector.

Then, you also need the software.  A free and great sound recording
app that I personally like is SoundRec from Infinityball.  Sound
quality recording is so amazing and like night and day between the
default Palm voice memo (stripped off a LifeDrive to test on my Treo).
 I use it for my Treo.
